Banjo's First Beach Trip

For the inaugural Banjo's Blog post, I thought it would be fun to discuss unique places to take your pets! Though living in Huntsville, AL is amazing, there is not a quick and easy access to the beach - unless you count a 5-6 hour drive quick and easy...then we need to talk! Scrolling through Reddit and seeing all the adorably cute videos of puppers playing on the sandy beaches made me so jealous. So when the opportunity came up where we could take Banjo to the beach, even when it was 68 degrees, we had to go for it!

We were visiting Charleston, South Carolina for a family event. We brought Banjo along for the fun adventure. After a little searching, we discovered the sweet, little town of Folly Beach. Naturally, we started with brunch. (Who doesn't start a new adventure with brunch?) We found the Lost Dog Cafe where I enjoyed bloody mary's and Evan started on his third cup of coffee for the day. We both spent time looking over the numerous dog photos that covered the walls. The patio was filled with other puppy pals Banjo was eager to introduce himself to. Once we started digging into our food, Banjo took a seat close by to catch all the crumbs (and the piece of bacon that mysteriously fell on the ground under his nose). Everything was delicious the atmosphere was perfect for pets and pet parents!

After brunch, Banjo, Evan and I strolled along the main stretch filled with restaurants, bars and shops. Banjo tried to stop and greet every dog and person we passed. We stopped at the pier entrance, where dogs were not allowed, to take off our shoes and get the cameras ready for Banjo's first paw-dip in the ocean. Of course, Banjo did not react to the sand any differently than he does getting in the dirt. The ocean, however, was a different experience. At first, he tried drinking it only to be surprised when it disappeared under his nose. Then, he was startled when that water came back at HIM! How rude! We walked the beach a bit and tried to get Banjo back in the water to no avail... Overall, a wonderful experience and one I would love to repeat if we get the chance!
